Thanks for the reply Les you have given me some excellent stuff to dive into. I agree Hebrews most likely wasn’t penned by Paul. I took your advice and opened a new post on the subject. “The Transition” From what I’m getting the Jewish Christians were under the Mosaic Law up until AD 70. New Testament scriptures would be appreciated. Matthew 5

Hi heavenonearth,

In view of present developments, I think it is important to say that sometimes, "heavens and earth" are just that, as in Genesis 1.1.

But, it is true, that through Christ we have a new heaven and a new earth. The fact that the kingdom of Christ is a spiritual kingdom, we who are in the flesh may not experience the conditions you describe. But, when I put of this body of death, and join my saviour in His kingdom, fully spiritual, I fully expect to experience those conditions.

Here's another passage to add to the discussion:

Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

New Heaven New Earth

New Covenant New Believers

No huge mystery there...

Jesus said, "Behold I make ALL things new."

One of the things I find fascinating in the creation account is how God made both the heavens and earth from the same waters. Are these not the waters of life that we can then see used symbolically later? I think they must be because it shows that man can have a heavenly destiny even though in the world where he was created, sin and death entered in - whereas no sin or death has ever been a part of the heavenly realm. Angels not only have no need to marry, they do not die, whereas procreation is what keeps the cycle of life going here.

My biggest complaint against the CC view is that it restricts us to only a covenantal understanding which alters the beginning we are given. And it does this mainly to support the ideas men have for their big bang theories, OEC and evolution. And they will not allow the text itself to tell the story without having these other ideas in mind first. Sure the bible is the story of God's covenant with man - but first He had to make the man...

Carnal man, which we all are, can easily see the physical relm. Covenant man can see the physical and Spiritual relm. The Biblical Heavens and Biblical (body) Earth did come out of the waters of The Sea. But God made The Morning and Light, men of theLight. And God made The Evening and the darkness that comes with the Evening, men of Darkness. To say that the OEC supports evolution is to show that YEC would NEED and support the view of evolution even more. The 'restrictions' that you think that you see with CC are in you mind only. With every metaphor and Spirital idealism within the Bible comes from the a solid and real base. It is truely 'Literal' from the book of G to the book R.... The Literal physical goes hand in hand with a Literal Spiritual.
